Mothership, Live Aboard Belize Journey,
February 16 - 23, 2002

What is the ultimate fishing fantasy? For me, it is to spend a week on a live aboard yacht, cruising interior, reef calm waters off the coast of Belize and fishing different pristine waters each day that are out of reach of lodge based fishing skiffs in the last uncrowded region in the Caribbean. To make it more exciting add the chance for the elusive Grand Slam; boating a tarpon, permit and bonefish all in the same day. It takes an area that has lots of flats fish and tracked by great guides using proper boats and equipment.

We were finally able to put this dream trip together and it sails from Belize City on the afternoon of February 16 and returns late afternoon February 22, 2002. We will spend the last night aboard and depart the next day (Saturday) for home. The Belize International Airport is easily accessible nonstop from many US airports or about a 2 hour connecting flight through Dallas, Houston or Miami via Continental, American or Taca Airlines.
This lush tropical foliage of jungle and flats is well situated to access some of the best saltwater fly and light tackle angling opportunities in the world. We can hunt tarpon and snook in the jungle rivers and creeks and also the Belize coastline. For permit and bonefish, we will spend our time among the mangrove channels and coastal flats. In addition, barracuda and snapper are found on the reefs and in the cuts between channels.
This personalized group fishing experience is aboard two modern cabin cruisers that accommodate groups from 4-6 people each and range in size from 52-58 feet. Each Mothership comes with its own Captain, crew, chef, guides and skiffs. Your guide travels with you and tows his 23-foot skiff behind the cruisers. We will travel comfortably to remote locations that can only be accessed by these motor yachts. Each cruiser is air-conditioned and carries safe drinking water. These boats offer the very best in equipment, facilities and gourmet meals. We know that you will be comfortable, safe and delighted with your experience. We customize our trip as we wish, and take our meals around fishing times. We can fish to our heart's content each and every day and be together around the dinner table each evening to plan the next day and recap our day on the water. Late afternoon, while we are back on the cruiser and cleaning up, our Captain will motor to our next calm protected area and anchor the ship for the evening. By doing this, we will be a short skiff ride to the next day's pristine fishery.
Belize is also a great place to add a day or two onto this adventure to take advantage of Eco-tours, Mayan ruins, and excellent jungle wildlife viewings that are all within easy reach.
